The Yakoma Cup Tournament is a premier youth football event that brings together talented teams from different regions and countries. The tournament provides young athletes with an exciting opportunity to compete at a higher level, gain international exposure, and experience cultural exchange through sport.

OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULES & REGULATIONS

Tournament Schedule

The Yakoma Cup International Youth Football Tournament will commence no earlier than 8:00 AM on Saturday and conclude no later than 4:00 PM on Sunday, including all final matches and award presentations.

For teams traveling by air, it is strongly recommended that return flights are scheduled after 6:00 PM on Sunday, or preferably on Monday, to avoid missing any tournament activities.

Special Exception
  • U18 teams may register up to 1 player born in 2007.

Teams with questions regarding player eligibility must contact the Tournament Organizing Committee before registration closes.

  • Matches are played in a 7v7 format, including one goalkeeper.
  • Teams must have a minimum of five (5) players to start a Match.
  • Each team may register a maximum of 15 players.
  • Official team rosters must be submitted at least one (1) hour before the tournament begins.
  • Only players listed on the approved roster may participate
  • Each player must provide a valid identification document showing:
    • Full Name
    • Date of Birth
    • Photograph

The Yakoma Cup Organizing Committee reserves the right to reject any player whose age or identification documentation cannot be satisfactorily verified.

Any team found using an ineligible or unregistered player will be immediately suspended from the tournament.

Girls’ categories shall use the ball size corresponding to their age group.

  • All players must wear numbered jerseys.
  • Players must use the same jersey number throughout the tournament.
  • Goalkeepers must wear a clearly distinguishable jersey.
  • Shin guards are mandatory for all players.

Any player not wearing shin guards will not be permitted to participate until properly equipped.

All referees and match officials shall be appropriately qualified and shall officiate according to the latest FIFA Laws of the Game.

The referee’s decision on the field is final.

  • All matches will consist of one continuous period of 20 minutes.
  • There will be no halftime interval.
  • Additional time may be added at the referee’s discretion for injuries or delays.

Teams must be ready to play at their scheduled kick-off time.

Late Arrival Penalties
  • More than 2 minutes late: Opponent awarded a 2–0 advantage before kick-off.
  • More than 5 minutes late: Match forfeited and full points awarded to the opposing team.

Teams must leave the field immediately after their match to ensure the tournament remains on schedule.

All restarts shall follow FIFA Laws of the Game:

  • Throw-ins
  • Goal Kicks
  • Corner Kicks

Opposing players must remain at least 6 metres from the ball during corner kicks and free kicks.

The Offside Law will NOT apply in any age category.

All disciplinary matters shall follow FIFA regulations.

Yellow Cards
  • Two yellow cards in the same match = Red Card
Red Cards
  • Automatic suspension for the next match.
  • Any player receiving more than one red card during the tournament will be suspended for the remainder of the competition.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to impose additional disciplinary sanctions where necessary.

All free kicks shall follow FIFA Laws of the Game.

Opponents must remain a minimum of 6 metres from the ball.

Penalty kicks shall be taken in accordance with FIFA Laws of the Game.
  • Unlimited substitutions are permitted.
  • All substitutions must be approved by the referee.
  • The incoming player must enter at the same point where the outgoing player exits.
  • Players should make physical contact (hand touch) during the substitution process.
Each age category will consist of:
  • Minimum: 5 teams
  • Maximum: 15 teams

Group Rankings

If teams finish level on points, rankings will be determined by:

1. Total Points
2. Goal Difference
3. Goals Scored
4. Head-to-Head Result
5. Penalty Shootout

  • Three penalties per team.
  • Different players must take each kick.
  • If still tied, sudden death penalties will be used.
  • No player may take a second penalty until all eligible players have taken
    one.

The Play-Off structure will be determined by the number of participating teams.

Depending on category size, teams may compete for:

  • Cup Championship
  • Plate Championship
  • Shield Championship

Each team is guaranteed multiple matches throughout the tournament.

If a Play-Off match is tied:

Golden Goal 3v3 Format
  • Three players plus goalkeeper per team.
  • First team to score wins immediately.
  • Initial period: 5 minutes.
  • One-minute water break if still tied.
  • Additional 5-minute period follows.

Goalkeepers must wear goalkeeper jerseys and may use their hands within their penalty area.

All restarts shall be conducted from the center circle using a referee drop-ball.

  • Plate Champions
  • Shield Champions
Individual Recognition
  • Gold Medals – 1st Place
  • Silver Medals – 2nd Place
  • Bronze Medals – 3rd Place
Participation

All registered players will receive a Participation Certificate.

The Yakoma Cup Organizing Committee reserves the right to amend, revise, interpret, or modify any tournament rule before the commencement of the competition.

All decisions made by the Organizing Committee shall be final and binding.

The club, players, parents, guardians, and officials acknowledge that participation in football activities carries inherent risks.
The club agrees to release and hold harmless the Yakoma Cup Organizing Committee, Yakoma Sports Events Management Services, sponsors, venue operators, volunteers, officials, and partners from claims arising from participation except where prohibited by law.
The club further confirms that all participants are medically fit to compete and have appropriate insurance coverage where required.
